DeMar DeRozan rocked the Nike Zoom Kobe 1 Protro Mamba Day against the Houston Rockets on March 9th, and it’s a new rendition of the updated silhouette that might make a debut to the public later this year. The sneaker basically sports a black and metallic gold colorway with black used for most of its design. Details like Kobe’s Achilles stitch lines are also seen on the left heel, while the right heel reads “4.13.18” as a tribute to the 2-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s final game.
Mamba Day is on April 13th and the Nike Kobe 1 Protro will release in a special colorway to celebrate Kobe Bryant’s greatness. This updated edition of his signature sneaker features a black leather upper with matching suede overlays on the toe, tongue and heel section. Contrasting the blacked-out look are gold accents used for the Swooshes, branding and references to Kobe Bryant’s legacy on the heels.
Nike Basketball will be celebrating Mamba Day with a few special edition colorways of their signature shoes, including the Nike Kobe 1 Protro.Dressed in a Black, White, and Metallic Gold color scheme. This Nike Zoom Kobe 1 Protro features a Black leather upper paired with Gold contrasting accents. A premium suede overlay on the toe, tongue and heel, along with references to Kobe Bryant’s legacy completes the design.
After the introduction of #MambaDay in 2016, Nike Basketball has extended the celebration into an annual tradition paying homage to the five-time Champion Kobe Bryant. This year, Nike will release the Zoom Kobe 1 Protro in a black/gold “Mamba Day” style that features the date printed on the right heel of the shoes. Additionally, the “XX” on the lace fixtures on the tongue are a nod to Kobe’s 20 years of service to the Los Angeles Lakers, while the custom insoles depicts number 24 walking out to the court for one last battle. Expect these to release on April 13th, 2018 on Nike SNKRS.
